Beetroot Chocolate Loaf Cake (VEGAN)

This Christmas period I have so far cooked four enormous meals in four different houses as four Christmas presents for friends and family ? in mutual opinion and after the shitty bank fraud episode that still isn?t quite sorted, it?s the best Christmas present I can offer ? swooping in to someone else?s kitchen and taking the stress out of catering for large groups of people, repurposing the leftovers into a pile of ready meals for the freezer, before packing my suitcase and moving on to the next one. It?s been a marvellous way to spend the week ? I have so far slept in six different beds in as many days and made a lot of new friends, drunk a lot of wine, lost two knives along the way and had glorious fun. I have made a host of new recipes along the way ? nothing gets my creative juices flowing like other people?s sparse storecupboards or a host of dietary requirements ? and this was one of the winners. Faced with a stinking hangover from the night before?s foray into home made cranberry and orange vodka, a young guest with severe egg allergies, and a limited supply of ingredients, I chanced upon a beetroot, threw it unpeeled in the blender, added it to a vegan chocolate cake recipe I had up my sleeve, and this was born. And oh, so sumptuous, so delicious, so gloriously purple, and the grateful grin from a little girl who can rarely eat cake at other people?s houses made thinking through my hangover well worth it.

Served 10:

2-3 raw beetroots (the hard vegetable kind not the pickled-in-vinegar kind)
2 ripe bananas
120ml cooking oil
200g coconut cream
275g plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
50g cocoa powder or 100g dark choc
100g-200g sugar depending on taste (even at the 200g end, this is barely 2 tsp sugar each per slice)

First preheat your oven to 180C and slice your beetroot, and toss into a blender with the bananas, oil, bicarb and coconut cream. Pulse to a vibrant pink paste, and scrape into a mixing bowl.

Add the flour, cocoa powder and sugar and mix well, adding a splash of water to loosen the mixture if required. Mix a bit more, and a bit more, to a glossy maroon batter. I fell in love with it at this point ? the colour, the sweetness of the coconut milk and banana, the earthiness of the cocoa and raw beetroot; having never made a beetroot cake before now, I was pretty much blown away when I licked the spoon.

Lightly grease a loaf tin and scrape the batter mixture in. Pop into the oven on the middle shelf for 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean. And enjoy!

Newcastle Transfers: 8 Players McClaren Must Sign In January

If Newcastle are to buy their way out of relegation? this is how to do it.

© Michael Eden/ActionPlus/Corbis© Michael Eden/ActionPlus/Corbis

When Newcastle United fans sing Auld Lang Syne on the stroke of midnight Thursday, they may well reflect back on 2015 as being one of the worst years in the modern history of Newcastle United.

Two utterly clueless teams fielded under respective head coaches John Carver and Steve McClaren (both of whom had different philosophies on how their teams should play that were both remarkably as inept as each other? but hey remember, they are world class and experienced coaches) have seen Newcastle end the 2014/15 season surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth and that same outcome for the 2015/16 season looking like the absolute best the club can hope for.

Rewind the clock just 12 months and Newcastle were sitting pretty in 10th and even talking up Europe as a possibility (Carver even having the gall to suggest Champions League was a realistic target during his introductory press conference) and optimism was high that the end of Alan Pardew?s tired reign would yield a new era from ?one of our own?. Yes, ultimately Carver sank quicker than the Titanic but how much was to blame on Mike Ashley not backing his new manager when the obvious frailties of his squad were evident to see?

Given Newcastle?s stature in the table, fans can rest assured the same mistake won?t happen this January and money will be spent to try and get them out of their latest fine mess. When in a similar position three years ago, United spent £17.4 million on a spread of six players that included Yanga-Mbiwa (£6.7 million), Debuchy (£5 million) Sissoko (£1.8 million), Gouffran (£1.2 million) and Haidara (£2 million) and the added quality meant they survived relegation by 5 points.

All Newcastle fans would take that same 16th position in a heartbeat right now but what players should The Magpies be looking to spend their £17.4 million+ on this January transfer window?

Here?s 8 players that must be on Steve McClaren?s shopping list;

10 Biggest WWE Creative Mistakes Of 2015

WWE badly botched turning Lana into a standalone star?

WWE.comWWE.com

Creatively, World Wrestling Entertainment have been a company in a rut for years. It?s unfair to levy the accusation that nothing the promotion does is entertaining, because that?s not strictly true. Over the years, Vince McMahon?s brain trust has enabled fans to enjoy countless hours of matches and moments. However, they?ve also booked a whole load of nonsense at times too.

2015 was no different from most other years, there were good moments and there were bad. Unfortunately, comparisons have been made between the past 12 months and the events of 1995, when the then-World Wrestling Federation found itself at a creative crossroads. There are parallels, such as sagging ratings, a clear lack of bankable headline talent, and throwing things at walls to see what might stick.

This article aims to explore 10 of the worst creative decisions made by the writing team throughout 2015. A lot of fans have complained about these storylines and booking ideas via social media and on pro wrestling forums online. Analysing them as a collective, they add up to represent the fact that WWE didn?t have a banner year in 2015.

Who knows what 2016 will have in store for the company, but they need to help themselves a lot more with their booking than they often did in 2015.

3D Paper Snowflakes How To

We have been meaning to share these 3D Paper Snowflakes with you for years and FINALLY  I have gotten around to making them for you. They are traditional Paper Snowflakes from Scandinavia! Sometimes these 3D paper snowflakes are also referred to as Paper Stars and they do look WONDERFUL in colour too (See below!!). Either way, these make a beautiful Christmas Decoration, as well as a wonderful more general ?Winter Decoration?! I do think it is important to ?decorate for Winter?, as after the Christmas festivities and Christmas sparkle, the remainder of Winter, can be a little dull and depressing!!! So make some of these beautiful 3D Paper Snowflakes and make your house or bedroom look all Wintery Festive. You will see that they are much easier to make than they look and once you get the hang of it, you can ?do away? with the need for measuring out the pencil lines and simply cut free had and experiment!

Easy 3D Paper Snowflakes How To - these paper snowflakes or stars are beautiful and surpirsingly easy to make

3D Paper Snowflakes DIY ? Materials:

per snowflake you will need ?

  • 3 sheets of A4 printer paper (though any paper is fine! Origami paper works brilliantly for this too! Alternatively you can make GIANT 3D Paper Snowflakes, by using 6 sheets of paper ? one per snowflake point)
  • scissors
  • glue stick (I think pritt stick is simply the best)
  • Stapler
  • String for hanging

Watch the top ten races of 2015 outside F1 | Top Tens

The 2015 F1 season didn?t serve up many great races but there was plenty of exciting action elsewhere ? much of which we featured in Weekend Racing Wrap during the season.

Here are my ten favourite races of the last 12 months from outside F1.

World Endurance Championship Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

It became clear we were on for a close fight in the championship and the upcoming Le Mans 24 Hours after another gripping encounter between Audi and Porsche in the World Endurance Championship at Spa. The Marcel Fassler/Andre Lotterer/Benoît Treluyer Audi took the flag just 13 seconds ahead of the Romain Dumas/Neel Jani/Marc Lieb Porsche.

Indianapolis 500

Juan Pablo Montoya won the Indianapolis 500 for a second time after a scintillating scrap with Penske team mate Will Power. Watch the full race above.

Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Spa race two

In a wide open season, eight drivers arrived at the final weekend of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup with a shot at the title, and three were still in the running at the final race. Long before then, Jake Hughes chased down and passed Ukyo Sasahara for victory on the last lap at Spa.

Formula Renault 3.5 Silverstone race two

Formula Renault 3.5 champion Oliver Rowland was made to work hard for his title by rival Matthieu Vaxiviere. Nowhere was that more true than at Rowland?s home race, where Vaxiviere piled on the pressure after losing the lead during the mandatory pit stop. Rowland clung on for a vital victory.

European Formula Three Hockenheim race three

While Felix Rosenqvist took a widely-expected title victory, rookie Charles Leclerc stepped into Max Verstappen?s old car and turned in a few performances the Formula One star would have been proud of. In his sixth start he passed Rosenqvist ? racing in F3 for his sixth year ? at a slippery Hockenheimring en route to victory.

British Touring Car Championship Donington Park race three

A surprise rookie performance, fiercely fighting championship contenders, and a few controversial collisions ? the third BTCC race at Donington Park had it all.

World Touring Car Championship Moscow race two

The World Touring Car Championship at Moscow Raceway: Neither a championship nor a circuit synonymous with great racing. And yet that?s exactly what it served up as ex-F1 racer Tiago Monteiro inflicted a rare defeat on the all-conquering Citroens in a thrilling encounter.

Australian V8 Supercars Bathurst 1000

The Bathurst 1000 usually supplies the action to justify its place as one of the world?s top racing events. This year was no exception as a rain shower added a dramatic twist to proceedings and the top runners crossed the line just a second apart after a thousand kilometres of racing.

Formula E Putrajaya, Malaysia

Eight laps of craziness defined the conclusion of Formula E?s return to the Putrajaya street circuit in Malaysia for the second race of their second season. Lucas di Grassi got his car home first while Robin Frijns dragged his wounded machine across the line in third after being one of several drivers to hit the wall.

Japanese Super Formula Suzuka race two

Rain, Suzuka and arguably the fastest cars outside of F1 is a recipe for seriously good racing. And in the penultimate race of the year the championship was hanging in the balance as well. While Andre Lotterer led from lights to flag, eventual champion Hiroaki Ishiura withstood a fierce attack from ex-F1 man Kamui Kobayashi while a crash for James Rossiter allowed Kazuki Nakajima to keep his title hopes alive.

Bonus 11th race

The second GP3 race at Monza, Italy also deserves a mention. Pole sitter Luca Ghiotto stalled, handing the initiative to championship rival Esteban Ocon who led the field to turn one. But an inspired Emil Bernstorff charged to the front to deny him.

However because of FOM restrictions you?ll have to head to the GP3 website to watch footage of this one.

Over to you

What were your favourite races of the year on four wheels ? or fewer? Have your say and share links to the footage in the comments.

10 WWE Wrestlers Most Likely To Be Released In 2016

Time?s up for these guys and girls.

WWE.comWWE.com

With ratings falling to an alarming level, major changes are going be made in WWE if they want to turn things around in 2016. New wrestlers will have to be signed, NXT wrestlers will called up, and some veterans are going to have to go. It?s an unfortunate fact of wrestling life, but when Vince McMahon thinks that someone isn?t earning their keep, they?re not long for the main roster.

It?s been a long time since we?ve had a big house cleaning in WWE, but with ratings rapidly falling, the boss is going to look for someone to blame. He?s certainly not going to blame himself, or his daughter, or his son-in-law, which basically leaves the wrestlers to have to find a new place of employment. Lucky them.

Right now there?s quite a few men and women who haven?t done anything of note on the main roster for a suspiciously long time. One of these mornings we?ll wake up to see some familiar names that have been wished the best of luck in their future endeavors, and sadly, we won?t be all that surprised.

From longtime veterans, to wrestlers who just never had any talent in the first place, here are 10 WWE wrestlers who are likely to be released in 2016.
