Snowman Treat Jars

I just wanted to share a very quick photo with you from a lovely reader (thank you Hannah!). She had great fun making some of our TP Roll Snowmen (great for a game of Snowman Bowling too) and adapted the TP Roll Snowman for Treat Jars at school fair! Genius. I don?t know about you, but OUR school has an annual Jar Decorating competition ? where the kids have to decorate a jar and fill it with treats ? that are then sold off at the Sweetie Jar tombola. I confess, that each year, we totally forget about it in the mad Christmas rush? but NEXT year, Hannah, we are so doing your idea..! Funny how inspiration works, no? Hannah was inspired by us? and now we are inspired by her. Why thank you! :-)

Decorate a Jar - snowman treats

Like with our TP Roll Snowmen, Hanna used some old socks to make the hats and scarves. Added pom poms, buttons and googly eyes! Job well done!

Enjoy your Christmas everyone!!

Santa Candy Sleighs (by Ellyn?s Place)

A few weeks ago, I spotted this rather ADORABLE Santa Candy Sleigh idea on Ellyn?s Place.. now my kids have put ?chocolate and sweets? on their Christmas wishlist.. so when I saw these DIY Chocolate Sleighs, I knew this was the perfect way to ?fulfill? their sweeet tooth wishes. Celebrity Top Tips for a Stress free Christmas

And so we?ve reached not only our last official post of 2015, but also our last post of our 12 Posts of Christmas with House of Fraser. It?s been a blast and I hope you?ve enjoyed it as much as we have. To send us off on our Merry way to enjoy all what the Festivities have in store for us over the coming weeks we thought we?d speak to a couple of our friends and ask their learned opinion about taking the stress out of Christmas so we can enjoy it for all its worth 24/7 and eat, drink and make merriment over the Yuletide. Enjoy these lil pearls of wisdom and see you back here on 4th January 2016 for all you need to know to keep you ahead in the style stakes.

Take Care, Thank you and Merry Christmas

A.M.

My big tip would be to write lists way in advance of what you need to get. For example a present list of the people you need to buy for and what you get them and check it off as you go. Same for Xmas dinner.

Designer and raconteur Sir Paul Smith

?Keep it simple and don?t try to be too ambitious. A single thoughtful gift is better than a sack-load of things that someone doesn?t want. And if it all gets too much, escape to a desert island on your own to escape any drama!?

imageActor Phillip Rhys, who over the Yuletide can be caught on the Doctor Who Christmas Special and new E4 show called ?Tripped?
?Keep travel to a minimum. Surround yourself with your favorite people, a good bottle of wine and The Doctor Who Christmas Special.?

image
Presenter and Sportsman Freddie Flintoff
?A tip on having a stress free Christmas is going away! Go away for Christmas, or book a restaurant. I know everyone likes Christmas at home, but you can open up your presents, spend time at home and play around with all the presents, go out and get something to eat and come back home, or else you?ll be washing up all afternoon.?

imageThe First Lady of Breakfast Television ? Lorraine Kelly
?Think of Christmas as simply as Sunday lunchthat?s grown a bit big for its boots. Also delegate as much as you can. If friends and family are coming over then assign them tasks.
Someone can bring the starter, another can make the trifle and others can supply Christmas crackers, games to play, DVDs to watch and sweeties to eat. X?

imageRapper, MC & Prsenter of Lip Sync Battle in 2016 ? Professor Green
?Go on holiday, alone.?

imageDJ, Presenter and Funhouse Master of Ceremonies ? Pat Sharp

?For a relatively stress-free time on Christmas Day. Wrap some spare presents with no labels and then when unexpected guests turn up over the festive period, hey presto, you have that gift you had always planned to give them !?

image

Chef, TV Host and all round good guy ? Dean Edwards

?My biggest stress busting tip would be to share the load at Christmas lunch. Coming from a large family we all bring something to the table, this year I?m roasting off a beautiful rib of beef, some fresh cranberry sauce and a lovely cider gravy. If everyone chips in it lessens the load on one person having to shop and cook for everyone.?

12 Reasons Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is A Disappointment

The biggest film of all time sure ain?t the best!

LucasfilmLucasfilm

It?s finally here! After decades of waiting for someone to make Star Wars good again, The Force Awakens is here! Yet while the cast and crew have done a solid enough job with the basics, it definitely falls down in a number of key areas despite the rapturous reviews.

Yes, Harrison Ford is amazing in it and some of the new characters are absolutely terrific, but the film also has a fair amount to apologise for, from its unambitious, even lazy screenplay, to bizarre technical flourishes and the blatant misuse of certain characters.

Bear in mind that major spoilers will follow, so if you?ve not been lucky enough to check the film out yet, you will definitely want to steer clear of this for now.

Here are twelve reasons the world?s biggest movie, Star Wars The Force Awakens, is a disappointment?

12. It Feels Incredibly Rushed

LucasfilmLucasfilm

On one hand, The Force Awakens? 135-minute run-time flies by in an instant, but that doesn?t strictly mean it?s a well-paced film. In fact, if anything, Episode VII is too breathlessly paced for its own good, fleeting from one character and set-piece to the next so speedily that we?re not often allowed to soak in the individual moment or understand why a character is behaving the way they are.

Former stormtrooper Finn?s abandonment of the First Order, for instance, seem all too sudden in act one, and the development of Rey?s force powers also comes about way too quick. These character beats can?t keep up with the overall forward-momentum of the planet-hopping plot, and before you know it, we?ve arrived at the final assault on the Starkiller Base, which similarly just doesn?t feel built-up enough and a little out of nowhere.

It must?ve been absolute hell writing and editing this film, but even so, it could?ve done with a little more in terms of expansive dialogue and quiet moments where the audience can just breathe it all in.

Check out the Batman v Superman Hot Toys figures & life-size Batman

batman v superman hot toys 5

I have already featured a closer look at the Batman and Superman figures from Hot Toys.

These new images from Hot Toys? booth at ToySoul 2015 give us another look at them along with a few other figures, the Batman v Superman Batmobile and a life-size Batman statue!

It is also quite interesting that the Batman in the desert outfit is called the Apocalypse version. Will the denizens of Apokolips be appearing in the film? It did look like Parademons in one of the recent trailers.

One of the most attention-grabbing collectibles is none other than the most spectacular and movie-accurate 1/6th scale Batmobile! Measuring at 110cm (43?) long, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Batmobile is shown in full glory with its highly detailed exterior and interior design, and incredible paint applications!

A highly detailed life-size statue of the imposing Armored Batman by Hot Toys is also at the event and is a big photo attraction point for any visitors!

In addition to the newly unveiled 1/6th scale Armored Batman and Batman (Apocalypse Version) collectible figures, the latest prototypes of the recently announced 1/6th scale Batman and Superman collectible figures are also making theirs first exhibition appearance worldwide! The prototypes will continue to be updated and be the most movie-accurate that many fans love to see in Hot Toys? collectibles!

10 Wrestling Facts We Didn?t Know Last Week (Dec 18)

Find out which former WWE star was offended by Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart?

WWE.com WWE.com

Known as the Legion Of Doom when working in the World Wrestling Federation, Hawk and Animal were also commonly referred to as The Road Warriors. Throughout their respective careers, both men were almost-constantly linked with one another. Arguably, they didn?t have as much success in the WWF as they earlier had in the NWA and elsewhere, but they?re still a memorable team for many fans from the early-1990?s.

As tough as they were, one member of the tandem didn?t always have the strongest stomach. This article features one fact relating to that weakness, and it makes for a highly entertaining story. That?s what this list is all about, providing 10 different pro wrestling related facts that even the most hardcore of grappling fans may not have known about last week.

Joining The Road Warriors are the likes of Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor and Bill Goldberg. In addition, read about the fascinating childhood experienced by none other than The Rock, as well as what a current WWE star?s mother did to try and get her son to interact with others a bit more. Rounding things out, there are facts about Mick Foley, AJ Styles and a stunning revelation regarding the match between Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart from WrestleMania XXVI.

Creative Process with Sprout

I would like to begin this post with a little bit of Christmas Cheer!!!! The kids and I have been having some FUN with Sprout animations and send you our Season?s Greetings!

Say aaaaah.

Anyway, as you know we are a GREAT fan of LOO ROLL crafts and have made many many things over the years. Normally, we sit down and get lots of different materials out and start snip snipping away and seeing how things COULD look and COULD fit together.  But as we have had the Sprout on loan to play with, I thought I would try something a little different and do some creative planning with this special desktop! (If you are interested in reading about the key features of the Sprout, check out this article of here that I wrote.. Sprout has also been helpful in creating some cool collages for a rather large Ornaments Crafts post I did!)

Sprout has many fun features.. but the Capture and then the Create Feature for particularly fun for this project?

  1. First we captured a number of items in one go:

creating with the help of Sprout (4)

Step 1 ? Capture Feature

2. We tidied up our items in the Create Setting

creating with the help of Sprout (3)

Step 2 tidying up items

3. Create some additional shapes out of your fabrics and ribbons ? using the stampers in create:

creating with the help of Sprout (1)

This is great fun for different fabrics and textures. It is also a great way for thinking about whether you need to get any  more materials in ? you may only have one piece of blue felt, but you may need lots more of it!

4 Finally.. the really fun bit.. use the Create feature to play and experiment seeing what sort of Loo Roll creations you can come up with:

creating with the help of Sprout (2)

We had a go at different characters.. look what faces looked good ? whether we wanted pom pom noses or drawn on noses.. exchanging fabrics and ribbons to look and design.

And then the kids were so inspired that they wanted to create an animation that reflect our creation process ? sharing again the animation from above:

We really had fun exploring and creating and seeing what we can make! If you would like to find out more about the Sprout, please do read my earlier articles ?
