Indiana Jones 5 Movie Confirmed

If you listen closely, you can hear no one being surprised.

LucasfilmLucasfilm

Whilst on Bloomberg promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens (not that it needs any help), Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger unleashed the quote-unquote shocking news that a new Indiana Jones movie is definitely happening. He very nonchalantly dropped the bomb; ?Indiana Jones as well, by the way, which will be coming.?

Considering recent news that Steven Spielberg himself said no one but Harrison Ford will be Indy, and that Iger has said a new film is coming, it?s not hard to put two and two together and presume there are plans in the works for a new Indiana Jones with Harrison Ford again in the lead.

Heroic Hollywood mention the rumours that Shia LaBeouf?s character Mutt Williams ? Indy?s son ? from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull could return in the next instalment, albeit played by an older actor, with the usual names being bandied about for the role like Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper.

Anything can happen between now and this mystical planned release of a new Indiana Jones film; negotiations between Ford, Spielberg and Disney could fall through and the whole thing could be rebooted, unless there?s some contractual clause buried somewhere in Disney?s Lucasfilm sale contract stating that a new Indy film can?t be made without ol? Steven?s sign-off? Who knows. It?s all conjecture at this point.

Regardless, bossman Bob Iger wants to make a new Indiana Jones movie, it?s on the docket, and he probably will ? one way or another.

12 Movies From 2015 That Really Shouldn?t Have Been Boring

Filmic foreplay without the follow through.

UniversalUniversal

Imagine a world where films about utopian futures and jet-packs and robots, or sadomasochistic sex fests or tales of espionage and intrigue would end up being among some of the most stunted releases of the year? Yeah, welcome to 2015.

For all of the tightly written, wonderfully exciting projects like Carol, Mad Max and Brooklyn that were rich and diverse and never compromised on thrill factor, some of the year?s films so badly fudged their potential that their lack of follow through is almost comical. They were exciting lies sold on the back of enticing premises and misrepresenting trailers that made claims the films simply couldn?t deliver on.

To borrow crude imagery from one of the worst offenders, we?d been warmed up with all manner of clamps and feathers only to be left dangling from the ceiling, trussed up like a turkey, moist but unsatisfied. And there were some pretty big names on the year?s black list of improbable borers?

12. Kill The Messenger

Focus FeaturesFocus Features

The Promise

The idea of a movie based on the end of Gary Webb?s notorious and tumultuous career as an investigative journalist who tried to take on the CIA was always a great one. There was potential in there for an All The President?s Men feel but with more toxicity and more pressure on Jeremy Renner?s lead, whose integrity was destroyed by a vicious smear campaign in the wake of allegations of political corruption.

The fact that he died in compellingly suspicious circumstances after his career was left in tatters added to the sales pitch of the movie too.

The Problem

Sadly, the execution is all over the place. There?s not enough tension by half, it?s uneven and the end is unsatisfactory: it?s neither defiant enough nor chilling enough.

Unfortunately for Renner, he?s still not quite sole leading man material. He?s an interesting character actor, but there?s a false swagger in his performance that suggests he thinks he?s in a David O Russell film when the script just isn?t that strong.

Only Yesterday ? Watch a new trailer for Studio Ghibli?s 1991 film

only-yesterday-1

GKIDS proudly presents Only Yesterday, from the legendary Studio Ghibli and Academy Award-nominated director Isao Takahata, never before released in North America. This new English language version stars Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Dev Patel.

It?s 1982, and Taeko (Daisy Ridley) is 27 years old, unmarried, and has lived her whole life in Tokyo. She decides to visit her family in the countryside, and as the train travels through the night, memories flood back of her younger years: the first immature stirrings of romance, the onset of puberty, and the frustrations of math and boys. At the station she is met by young farmer Toshio (Dev Patel), and the encounters with him begin to reconnect her to forgotten longings. In lyrical switches between the present and the past, Taeko contemplates the arc of her life, and wonders if she has been true to the dreams of her childhood self.

Written and directed by Studio Ghibli co-founder and Academy Award nominee Isao Takahata (The Tale of The Princess Kaguya), Only Yesterday is a masterpiece of time and tone, rich with humor and stirring emotion, from one of the world?s most revered animation studios. Critically acclaimed but never before released in North America, the film is receiving a national theatrical release in a new, Studio Ghibli-produced, English-language version in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The film opens in NYC Jan 1, and starts nationwide Feb 26.

20 Biggest WTF Movie Moments Of 2015

Abstract thought, indeed.

PixarPixar

Even though 2015 was without question the biggest year ever for Hollywood blockbusters, that didn?t mean big-budget movies just played it totally safe and churned out blandly personality-free CGI-fests.

These 20 movies, whether ludicrously expensive tentpoles or outside-the-system indie flicks, served up the most hilarious, the most depraved and the most flat-out bizarre scenes from cinema this past year, either awesome, outrageously terrible or in an ambiguous measure of quality where we?ll simply call them WTF.

From unexpected plot twists to gratuitous celebrity nudity, mind-blowing scenes in kids? movies and a certain reveal in a certain long-awaited movie everyone can?t stop talking about, it?s been a year of shocks and surprises for both better and for worse.

Here are the 20 biggest WTF movie moments of 2015?

20. Margarita Guy ? Jurassic World

UniversalUniversal

When all hell breaks loose on Jurassic World as the dinosaurs run riot on the park?s guests, there?s a blink-and-you?ll-miss-it glimpse of a man running away from the chaos while holding two margaritas, because when you?re spending $10 on a damn cocktail, you?re not gonna let some mere dinosaurs ruin it for you.

Trivia: the man in question is in fact the owner of the Margaritaville chain spotted in the movie, Jimmy Buffett. The guy?s actions don?t really make any sense at all, but it sure is hilarious.

New Assassin?s Creed images show the past and the present

Assassins-Creed-1 banner

Justin Kurzel (Snowtown, Macbeth) is directing the film adaptation of the video game series. It stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard (Macbeth, The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave), Ariane Labed (Before Midnight), Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson.

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Empire had the new images and had this to say about them:

Judging by those manacles and that burning pyre, Aguilar, the hero of Ubisoft?s stellar gaming franchise, looks like he?s just escaped a Macbethian fate here, possibly at the hands of the shadowy Knights Templars.

Meanwhile, his contemporary, Lynch (below), the equivalent of the game?s Desmond Miles, is a man forced to relive his ancestor?s exploits via a VR machine called the Animus. No, this isn?t an outtake from Hunger. The shorn and noticeably gaunter Lynch is incarcerated either as a criminal or a madman, presumably with the Templar?s corporate avatars exploiting his connection with the past for their own nefarious ends.

Assassin?s Creed is out in UK cinemas in December 2016.

Could this be the first decent film based on a video game?

Blogging Tips Round-up: Back to basics

BloggingTips 610Hello and welcome to the all new Blogging tips Round-up!  I?m hoping you?ve had a great Christmas and managed to take a least a mini blogging break over the festive period ? I know that can be scary for some but it really does refresh your thoughts somewhat and helps to refocus if you are having bloggers block which happens to us all at some point in time.

For my first round-up I wanted to bring it back to the basics, the questions you may want answered when you first start blogging, the ones you wish you had known before you started and a few in between.  You may have decided the New Year is your year to start a blog of your own and it really doesn?t have to be daunting.

So without further ado here are a few of my favourite posts for this month.

You?ll want to decide on your platform for your blog ? the main two being WordPress or Blogger, Cass brings you a guide to setting up a blog in 7 simple steps which talks through subjects from platforms, domains, host providers making it look pretty to social medial channels for your blog.

With a new year brings around new starts so you may be wanting to start your own linky from January or to join in with others.  A linky is a lovely way of sharing your post and collecting posts from other bloggers on the same theme/subject so you can all find new blogs and read others.  Kaye has a post on how to start a linky which is helpful for those of you wanting to start up your own or even for those of you who want to join in with other linkys.

This post is a great one to read which will explain Domain Authority, Do Follow and No Follow links ? these are the most asked questions in the bloggers groups and forums and something you really should know about.

Here is a post which helps explain Blogging Tribes, what they are and how they can be beneficial to sharing your posts once you?ve hit publish.

Lastly for this month is a post by Kerry on how to be an organised blogger ? this may be a new years resolution of yours and definitely something I personally need to work harder on.

Hopefully these have been helpful, if you have a question you would like answered or a topic you want to see covered within the Blogging Tips Round-up posts then do let me know and I will do my best to cover those next month.  You can leave a comment here or tweet me @emmys_mummy.

Home & Design Round-up of the year, December

home and design 610Well, I do hope that you have all had a peaceful Happy Christmas, and are ready to raise your glass to a new year of home decorating projects!

This month on the Home and Design Round-up I wanted to look back on some of the amazing December posts that I spotted, and also look at some of my favourite Home and Design makeovers of the year.

First up is Kat with three table displays all for under £50, I was absolutely blown away with how beautiful, simple and elegant it all looked. In complete contrast is a equally beautiful but very colourful Christmas table from LittleBIGBELL. Pops of colour and lots of sparkle your thing? Well this will be perfect inspiration?adore!

I fell in love with these DIY origami fan wheels from Owl and Accordion, a great activity to make with children and decorate their room with I think.  They look so great on the hooks, as well as to decorate gifts.  Another DIY decoration but this time using fabric from the talented Curate & Display, I want those garlands festooned EVERYWHERE!

If you are a fan of Instagram you will have seen lots of people (especially bloggers) using cinema lightboxes, I must admit I love mine, its my new favourite thing.  How about making your own though? Karen from Making Spaces cleverly shows you how.

These upcycled tree decorations using a empty tomato puree tube are such a sweet idea from Truly Madly Kids, why don?t you make some to put away for next year?

Wreaths and making guest welcome from the moment they see your home from Antonia and Tidy Away Today, left me feeling inspired about making an impression with my front door.  As did this post from Old Fashioned Susie, oh her newly painted door looks absolutely amazing, I am so envious!

One of my favourite makeover projects I have been following this year, has been Jen from Love Chic Living and her loft conversion. Well Jen has been revealing all of the changes, including her youngest daughters new, much larger bedroom with a quirky goose feather light. Whilst Nadine from JuggleMum has been showcasing her teenage daughters bedroom makeover, especially a really innovative Day/Night blind that I?d not hear about before, very nifty!

I?ve been busy too, both of my daughters have had complete room makeovers and last month I got sent a sofabed for 48 hours, and had to take photographs of it styled up for guests this Christmas which was great fun.

So all that remains is to wish you all a very Happy New Year, and see you very soon, paintbrushes at the ready!
